10 Habits That Leads To Infertility In Men
Lack of Sleep
The research has shown the relation b/w lack of sleep & infertility both in men & women. Lack of sleep is associated with irregular periods in women which is a cardinal sign of infertility. (Health professionals working at night duty often show increased miscarriage rate.)
Lack of sleep also results in weight related problems irrespective of gender (both in men & women) which influence their reproductive health.
Consuming Too Much Coffee
Caffeinated products like coffee, tea, soft drinks & other beverages in excess have bad influence upon infertility. The quantity required to produce such influences is 300 mg of caffeine per day i-e taking six cups or more per day.
Habits Causing Overheat
Habits that cause overheat like using laptops while keeping on the laps, over exercise that overheats the body, massages associated with heat bath frequently lead to infertility because such these cause testicular temperature to rise which is not favorable for sperm production. (Testes are in the temperature 20C less than the body temperature due to presence outside the body cavity in a hanging pouch.)
Use Of Tight Jeans
Wearing tight jeans is an emerging fashion that causes the scrotal temperature to rise & also associated with the inflammation of genitourinary track. Wearing tight jeans hinders proper perfusion of the testicular tissue & thus impairs sperm production & finally leads to infertility.
Sitting For Long
Sitting for long time is now a very common practice especially in the students or worker at offices. This leads to decreased circulation towards the pelvic area which deprives the testicular tissue from proper blood & oxygen resulting into tissue necrosis which leads to infertility in men.
Smoking has deleterious effects upon sperm production owing to presence of nicotine in it. Smoking reduces the normal count of sperms & may leads to infertility.
Obesity in men is often associated with sperms formation that is not healthy or is immature. Similarly, in women, obesity leads to decreased chances of getting pregnant.
Over Eating Junk Foods
Over eating junk foods like ice cream, chocolate & other products of this sort leads to increased weight & obesity which is one of the causes of formation of unhealthy sperms.
Drinking alcohol is one of the most leading causes of infertility in men. Alcohol decreases the secretion of testosterone in the body which reduces the sperm count & also leads to mutated sperms.
Today’s lifestyle is full of stress which has suppressive effects over master gland of the body i-e pituitary gland secretion which results into hypo functioning of the associated glands like adrenal gland, thyroid gland & also over the hypothalamus of the brain. This causes decreased libido (decreased sexual desire), impotency & in the end, is thought to be the signs of infertility.
